What is a QR code?

A QR (Quick Response) code is a two-dimensional barcode that stores text — most often a URL, but equally a Wi-Fi login, a phone number or a short message. Any phone camera can read one. This generator builds the code entirely in your browser: the text you type is never uploaded, which matters when you are encoding something private like a Wi-Fi password.

Which error correction level should I pick?

QR codes carry redundant data so they still scan when partly damaged or obscured. A higher level survives more damage but needs a denser code to hold the same text.

Level L

~7% recoverable — smallest code

Level M

~15% recoverable — good default

Level Q

~25% recoverable

Level H

~30% recoverable — best for logos or print

PNG or SVG?

Choose PNG for websites, slides and social posts — it works everywhere. Choose SVG for print, signage or anything that gets resized: it is a vector, so it stays perfectly sharp at any size and usually weighs less. Keep a quiet zone of at least four modules around the code, and enough contrast between foreground and background, or scanners may struggle.
